J's (John's) UK Circumcision Experience My circumcision was performed on 1st October 1991 at 1030 by the surgeon Mr Hasan of the Surgical Advisory Service in London (I still have my appointment card and I also still have the remains of two of the 12 sutures that were used to stitch me up afterwards!). I was 31 years old at the time. I hope to be able to find the time very soon to write out a detailed account of the operation and the subsequent healing period, but briefly for the moment the operation was performed under a local lignocaine anaesthetic by a combination of the forceps guided method (to achieve a straight cut along the outer skin) followed by freehand trimming of the inner skin (in order to get the scarline closer to the glans). My frenum was cut through and after sealing the various cut blood vessels with an electro-cautery device the wound was stitched together with twelve self-dissolving sutures. This was followed by a tight dressing and a half-hour rest period back in the waiting room where I was encouraged to drink two large cups of sweet tea. After a quick inspection to check that there was no excessive bleeding I was sent home via a pharmacy to collect antibiotics, pain killers and sleeping tablets. I travelled home by train and when I arrived the two cups of tea had done their stuff and I needed a pee. My poor cock was wrapped up like a mummy with the head more completely covered by the bandage than it had been for many years by my foreskin. The surgeon had left a small area around my meatus free so I was able to pee without wetting the dressing.
